Second Life – Places

Since the world of Second Life is SO vast, you could literally spend all day every day exploring and probably still not see everything there is to see. In all honesty, there is a lot of ugly in SL, but there’s also a lot of stand-out places that I really think deserve to be recognized or at best saved here for future prosperity. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned about SL it’s that places come and go, sometimes literally overnight.

Just because something is there one day doesn’t necessarily mean it will still be there, or even be the same, tomorrow.

DRD – visually stunning.

Death Row Designs – Creator of some of the best objects, furnishings, apparel, gacha (collectable sets), and buildings you’ll find in SL. The in-world store is very laggy but very detailed and worth the visit.

Builders Brewery – Building classes, stores, and Sandbox.

Folkvang – Incredible “tour” through Norse mythology. Very well done.

Midnight Glory – Light adult-themed RPG parcel. Insane detail. Great for photos.

North Providence – A huge urban RPG sim, that’s also great for taking pics.

MADPEA – the attention to detail is crazy
(but so is the lag, unfortunately).

Madpea City – Great items. Incredibly addictive and immersive games, experiences, and hunts where you can win prizes. Definitely worthwhile checking back regularly. Can literally lose days playing these games.

Salchicha County – Home of -RC- Cluster – maker of fun stuff.

WoRPG – Resource and HUB for RPG communities.

Gobsmacked – Skyboxes for adult RPG scenes. Great place for pics too.

Missing Mile – see more at Loverdag’s blog here.

Missing Mile – Light RPG sim, photo place, and store for grunge. One of the first RPG sims I visited. Inspired me to build my first RPG sim ‘Stormy Valley’ back in the day. Pretty laggy, but personally very much nostalgia central.

Maitreya – Mesh body and official clothes.

Lelutka – Quality mesh head and animations.

Avi-Glam – Realistic mesh eyes, pretty cheap too.

Stealthic – Great mesh hair.

RunAway – Also great hair.

Truth – More great hair. Get “freebie” styles each month in VIP group.

IT Girls – look like a Victoria’s Secret model in an instant.

IT Girls – Realistic avatar skins (mostly based off RL supermodels).

Izzie’s – Awesome skin details, makeup, skin, accessories and more.

Vista – AO’s (animation overrides), Bento hands, clothing and accessories. Expensive, but probably the best for AO’s if you ask me.

Blueberry – Quality clothes and shoes. Pretty much your one-stop-shop.

KC Couture – Nice (and cheap) shoes for all occasions/styles.

Kibitz – Nice and fairly inexpensive jewelry.

Maxi Gossamer – Good jewelry and accessories/sets.

Virtual babies that you can “raise” and interact with.

Zooby – Interactive virtual babies, furniture, clothing, accessories, toys, and supplies. Half of my SL brood are Zooby brand. They are fairly easy to take care of, are autonomous, can speak (not to the degree Funsies can), and unfortunately they stop “growing” at around 5 years of age – at least for now. But as they are the more popular option there’s a greater variety of stores that cater for them. See the website here.

Funsies – Interactive virtual babies, furniture, clothing, accessories, toys, and supplies. The other half of my SL babies are Funsies brand. They require a little more care than a Zooby, can talk back to you, move autonomously, and “grow” to teenage years. They don’t “look” as good as Zooby but are a tad more interactive, and overall (at least from personal experience) cost more generally to raise. See the website here.

Hayabusa Design – Animated trees and landscaping.

Dysfunctionality – Quality objects and landscaping very cheap.

Dummy-Land 2 – Huge variety of NPCs.

Candle and Cauldron – Wiccan resource and store.

Sexy Nude Beach – Misnomer: very few sexy avatars there, but a great place to hang out (and let it all hang out) and dance… with strangers.

Pet Cemetery – Not the best looking place, but I absolutely love the fact we can immortalise our beloved RL fur-babies online.
